My current position, projects and main research interests
I am an assistant professor at the ISCTE-IUL (Lisbon University Institute) and a researcher at the Centre for Sociological Studies and Research, Lisbon University Institute (CIES-IUL). I earned my PhD from the European University Institute (EUI, Florence) in 2011 with a thesis on symbolic representation from a gender and comparative perspective.
Currently, my research interests are gender and politics, comparative politics, political representation, electoral systems and methodology and data analysis.
I have been part of various national and international research projects focusing on these and other topics, such as the Portuguese Election Study, QUING European Project (www.quing.eu), and EU Profiler (www.euprofiler.eu).
I am currently contributing as a country expert to a project on the impact of electoral systems in political recruitment in several countries at the University of California, San Diego and am a member of two projects on women’s political representation in Portugal and Spain (mulherepoder.ics.ul.pt and www.upf.edu/simbolrep).
